Careers in Education – This course
prepares one for a career in California’s largest industry:
public or private education. Students pursuing a career in
education study all aspects of this career pathway through
a combination of classroom instruction, school based observation/shadowing
and community classroom placement. Curriculum components include
professional standards, child growth and development, developmentally
appropriate practices and curriculum activities, resources
and materials, occupational and student safety, communication
skills, problem solving, teamwork and leadership and career/employability
skills. This class would benefit students interested in careers
as teachers, child psychologist, speech therapist, counselors
or any other education pathway career. A prerequisite of a
3.0 GPA is highly suggested.
